A Note on Studio Etiquette: Finding Your Spot and Window
If you've joined us recently, you may have noticed the front row of dancers stand in spots on either side of the instructor, and the rows behind them set up in windows (spots between the front row dancers) facing the mirror — a small detail that makes a big difference in how well you can see and follow along in class. We wanted to share a bit about how this works, especially for those still getting familiar with DDF.
Once you find a spot you love, you'll likely find yourself returning to it — that's part of settling into your rhythm here. A few things that help keep the experience great for everyone:
If you're arriving after class begins, we'd ask that you find an open spot toward the back rather than the front, or if available, along the sides of the studio. This helps preserve clear sightlines for those already positioned for the class.
If you'd like to hold a favorite spot, arriving a bit early is always welcome. And in the rare case that spots overlap, we've found a simple, kind conversation resolves it easily. If you do find yourself feeling too crowded or uncomfortable, please let an instructor know and we will assist in resetting the rows and windows so everyone can enjoy the experience.
New to dance and/or dance fitness? We'd recommend trying a spot toward the middle or back of the studio at first. You'll have a bit more room to find your footing as you learn the choreography.
A few additional notes that help class run smoothly for our whole community:
Arriving a few minutes early gives you time to settle in and find your spot before we begin.
We ask that phones stay on silent and put away during class, so we can all stay present in the music.
If you need to have a conversation with a friend or instructor, please step into the hallway or lobby to help those around you stay focused on their workout.
We're grateful to have each of you as part of the DDF family — thank you for helping make every class feel as good as it looks. See you on the floor!
